I tried a new cookie recipe this weekend. Inspired by the Cheer up cookies from "When Circumstances Are at Their Worst" by Ysabetwordsmith.
The OG recipe is Granola Chocolate chip Cookies.  Instead of homemade granola I used store bought granola cereal with dried strawberries, raspberries & blackberries. I used double the sunflower kernals instead of adding almonds, since my partner doesn't like Almonds. I used semi sweet bakers chocolate instead of chips.  I made about 12 cookies and then I made cookie bars with the rest of the dough.

The cookies & bars are more dark & bitter then I expected from a chocolate chip cookie. Next time, I think I will try a different granola, maybe homemade & use more & lighter chocolate. J & I both like the bars better then the cookies. They are soo good with a cup of tea or milk.

Today is the Feathering the Nest prompt call at dialecticdreamer’s blog. Stop in to get a fic by request. Gentle fiction and fluff are preferred, but sometimes plot sneaks in! I intend that each story “feathers the nest” and makes the reader’s day a little more comfortable. Welcome

Fall is coming to town!  On the way home today I noticed a large amount of leaves in the wind & scattered everywhere on the road. I can't wait for cooler days.

Things I saw today on walk with my dog

- The big tree behind the apt,
- The piles of loose cut grass left behind after the grass was cut earlier this weekend. I wish they would've clean it up afterwards.
- pretty pigeons including a tan & white one.
- the moon in the summer sky, almost full
- the outlines of where a well tended garden was on the corner of the building.  Stumps of some kind of bush, I think.

There's a "three things" meme going around. where you ask someone for three things you might or might not know much about, and then write about them in your blog. I got these from[personal profile] ng_moonmoth

Yarn - I <3 Yarn. I am a Knitter and so I have quite a bit of yarn. :) Yarn is a type of thread or string made from spun fiber. It can be made in a wide variety of materials, color & texture. It can be animal fiber like wool or silk, or it can be plant fiber like cotton. It can be found at a pretty wide price range, from commercial stuff at walmart to hand made one of a kind pieces. Good for knitting, crocheting, weaving & general crafting.

Bicycle - I don't have much experience with bicycles, even thought I do admire them. They seem so useful and fun. I rode as a kid but not much after about age 10 I think. Now-a-days I live in hill country, & in a not bike friendly area. Cars are much more common. My depression and lack of experience & resource also don't make biking very attractive right now. Hoping when we move to move somewhere more bike friendly.

Griddle - Cooking surface that is flat and nonstick.  I think of griddles in professional kitchens mostly. Like the diner scene with someone making pancakes or burgers. I use skillets at home for most things. I do have a bit cast iron piece that is a flat griddle on one side & a grill griddle on the other.
