Texas school shooting & some thoughts
May. 27th, 2022 01:03 pm I live in TX and have for years. I went to high school mostly on Tx & my partner's education was basicly all in tx. School shootings have always been a worry and a reality. Thankfully I never had to be in a active shooter situation myself but we did have bomb threats in high school. They sent us out in the football field while they swept the school. I remember joking with my friends that if we did get bombed at least we were close enough to the probably blast area that we would die first & have a relatively quick death.
I was numb to the recent elementary school shooting at first but as I read more details about it the more emotional I get. This post about a Dad who is standing as an unarmed guard over his kid's school, which is also his wife's work finally made my cry.
At this point I'm trying not to doomscroll or overwhelm myself. Time for some distraction till I can grieve & look for actionable things to do. Suggestions welcome, please note due to covid & personal concerns in person work is not an option for me rn.
