Happy memorial day

Happy Memorial day for my fellow US people. My thanks go out to all who have served and sacrificed their lives in service.

For anyone interested in the difference between Memorial Day and Veterans Day in the US, I found this article from Washington Post. It is clear and includes some history of the holidays.

Appreciate reading that! I never realized that Armistice Day and Veterans were the same creature; granted, I'm also way too American for my own good, but I did grow up listening to a lot of Midnight Oil (which may be too Australian for my own understanding), but they did do a song called Armistice Day which remarked on the sacrifice of Australians, which I never considered even though I am aware they did.

I may wonder if September 11th may also eventually enter that canon as well. Not that I like to think about it either, but it might be worth considering. Well, not like I know. I do find it odd as well though, how Memorial Day has its own bit of "Cinco De Mayo"ing with how Americans tend to associate it now with barbecues instead of bloodshed. Perhaps for the better? Perhaps for the worse? I don't know.

Anyway, hope I wasn't insulting or the like, just gave me something to think about out loud, so again: really appreciate it!
